Ninja Sushi & Teriyaki will fill a downtown Roseville space at 238 Vernon St. previously occupied by an ill-fated Sammy Hagar restaurant, officials with the city announced on Tuesday.

It marks a new future for a location that’s been empty for most of this year.

This is a relocation for the locally owned restaurant, which is currently at 963 Pleasant Grove Blvd. Owner Steve Kwon hopes to open the new location, which he said is about five times the size of his current space, by the end of January.

“Being locally-owned and operated, they are committed to Roseville and the downtown which has proven to be a formula for success in places like The Monk’s Cellar,” Chris Robles, CEO of the Roseville Community Development Corp., said in a prepared statement. “They are a great fit for downtown bringing an existing and growing customer base because of their first-rate product, phenomenal customer service and excellent value.”
